India Handlooms

The India Handloom brand was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on August 7, 2015, coinciding with the first National Handloom Day. This initiative aims to assure consumers of the authenticity and high quality of handloom products. While the Handloom Mark Scheme, launched in 2006, provided assurance of authenticity, it lacked quality assurance measures. Therefore, the India Handloom brand focuses on branding high-quality handloom products with stringent quality standards and environmental sustainability. It encompasses aspects such as raw materials, processing, design, and environmental compliance. Eligible entities can register for the India Handloom brand for specific product categories meeting prescribed quality parameters, outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure.
