Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad),(IIM-A) is a business school, located in AhmedabadGujaratIndia. As one of India’s premier Indian Institutes of Management, the school has been accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance by the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India in 2017. It is widely regarded as the leading business school in India and one of the most prestigious business schools in the world.

Established in 1961, the institute offers master’s degree programs in management and agri-business management, a fellowship program and a number of executive training programs.[5] The institute’s founding director is Ravi J. Matthai.[6] Other notable founding figures were the Indian physicist Vikram Sarabhai, Indian businessman Kasturbhai Lalbhai and Indian educator Kamla Chowdhary.

IIM Ahmedabad, one of the premier management institutes in India, indeed features a logo that incorporates the motif of the “Tree of Life.” The logo draws inspiration from a specific element found in the 16th-century mosque of Siddi Saiyyad, located in the old part of Ahmedabad.

The Siddi Saiyyad Mosque, also known as the Sidi Saiyyed Ni Jaali, is a historic mosque built in 1573 during the reign of Sultan Ahmed Shah, the founder of Ahmedabad. It is renowned for its intricately carved stone latticework screens, or jaalis, which adorn the windows. One of these jaalis prominently displays the design of a tree with intertwining branches.

The designers of IIM Ahmedabad’s logo incorporated this symbolic representation of the Tree of Life from the Siddi Saiyyad Mosque’s jaali. The Tree of Life is a powerful and universal symbol found in various cultures and religions worldwide, representing growth, connection, and the interdependence of all life forms.

By incorporating this motif into their logo, IIM Ahmedabad seeks to embody the values associated with the Tree of Life, such as knowledge, wisdom, resilience, and the continuous pursuit of growth and development.
